TIRANA, July 16 – President Bamir Topi held in Brindisi, nearby Italy his last official visit while in the post, which he is to leave next week.
Topi took part at a cultural activity in Chelino, San Marco titled “Italy- Albania: friendship between two people” as the honored guest of the activity.
During the visit he also held meetings with the local authorities there.
“Our two countries, Italy and Albania, are not together only from the Ionian and Adriatic seas but also from an ancient history embedded in centuries and the hearts of our two people,” he said.
Italy is Albania’s main trading partner and a main supporter of its efforts of integration in the European Union.
His trip back home was delayed due to some technical problems of the ferry Topi was using.
Topi will leave the post July 24 when he is to be replaced by the president elect Bujar Nishani.
