TIRANA, Jan. 6 – Two Albanian international players have moved to top Italian and French football leagues during the January transfer window.

Defender Andi Lila has moved to Italy’s Parma which is currently in the relegation zone in the Serie A. The 28-year-old who recently played for Greece’s PAS Giannina already has 44 international caps with Albania to his name and can play in several different midfield roles.

Meanwhile, Lenjani has been signed by France’s Rennes on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Swiss Super League outfit St Gallen.

Lenjani, who played for Albania in Rennes in a 1-1 friendly draw with France in November, explained that he was persuaded to join the Bretons after the recommendations of two players he knows from his time in Switzerland.

“I am delighted to be here. It is a new stage in my career. I will get the chance to discover Ligue 1, which is a high level of competition, and I will give my best.” he told French media.

Albania who rank third in the Euro 2016 qualifiers in Group 1 will travel to Armenia next March in a decisive match for their qualifying hopes.
