TIRANA, May 21 – Albanian Ministry of Culture said Monday that two archaeological ancient shrines trafficked to Greece during the unrest in 1997 will return to their homeland following discussions between the two ministries of culture last weekend.
Apollo statue of the second century grabbed from Butrint and Nicaea’s Artemis of the 3rd century B.C. grabbed from Finiq will soon see their old home, according to Albanian Minister Ylli Pango.
The minister said he was promised by his Greek counterpart Georges Voulkarakis that the two ancient shrines that are now at the Piraeus museum will be back home soon.
The ministry of culture has set the objects of six archaeological parks in the country as the top sites to attract tourists this year.
