TIRANA, June 12 – Thirteen years after NATO troops entered Kosovo to stop the Serb genocide, Mirela Oktrova, an Albanian journalist who witnessed events in Kosovo working as a reporter, has opened a photo exhibition bringing images of the drama Kosovo people faced in 1999. The exhibition called ‘Fates at War’ features some 110 selected pictures Oktrova took during her three-month experience in Kosovo where she assisted in the evacuation of Kosovo refugees from Macedonia to Germany.
“This photo exhibition is testimony. It is the strongest experience of my life. There are fates of people downtrodden by war,” says Oktrova, who entered Kosovo on a UK tank.
The 110 pictures on display at the National Museum in Tirana are divided in four sections and contain 20 notes, bringing images of people fleeing Kosovo and their accommodation in refugee camps mostly children and elderly men. The exhibition will remain open to the public until June 18.
