TIRANA, April. 24- On the International Book Day the Minister of Culture proclaimed 2007 to be the year of Mitrush Kuteli, one of the best and most well-known Albanian writers. The tradition started last year that was dedicated to Ismail Kadare. Several events such as book promotions and conferences will be organized in Albania and in Kosovo to honor the work of the Albanian writer that has left a rich collection in prose and poetry. The son of the writer said that this year some works of the author that have been left unpublished before will be available for the Albanian reader.
The real name of Mitrush Kuteli was Dhimiter Pasko and he was born in Pogradec in 1907. His prose was fed by the folk legends of his own region and his originality brought to the Albanian reader an extraordinary literary work of huge artistic dimensions. He graduated in 1934 in Bucharest in Economics and worked in Albania in his own profession as well as a translator.
