TIRANA, Oct. 25 – Police found the body of a woman cut in pieces at an artificial lake in Zall Herr in the north of Tirana. Her body, found on Oct. 21, has still to be identified. Investigators are finding it difficult to identify her body. Police and prosecutors have started to check everything about the women allegedly exploited as a prostitute and are trying to find who she was. Police have drafted an identity and experts are still analyzing her body. There is also an alternative theory that she may be a foreign citizen, believed to be 18-20 years old. Xhemal Qefalia, head of the prison in Tirana, confirmed Wednesday that another woman who was mentioned as a possible victim was under arrest accused of prostitution. The body was found near the artificial lake by some children playing nearby. The body was decomposed and cut in some pieces, allegedly to hide her identity. All the media, newspapers and television stations, broadcast the case as a continuous news item for many days these week. It was the coverage from a private television station which helped police find other pieces of her body a day later.
Law enforcement authorities said there are some 650 Albanian women who have been lost since 1992 and there is no known address for them. But police also said they have all their ID details.
