Quarta performs in Tirana

The well known violinist Massimo Quarta performed in a concert on the stage of the National Ballet and Opera Theatre last week end. He was accompanied at this concert by the well known pianist Stefania Redaelli. A rich program of sounds from every corner of Europe, beginning with Mozart to Franck, Tchaikovsky, Paganini and Ravel. Regarded as one of the finest violinists of his generation, Quarta has won a series of international awards and has performed on hundreds of stages world wide. He has recorded many concerts for violin, mostly by Paganini. He is a professor of the violin at the Italian Swiss Conservatory of Lugano. Massimo Quarta interprets on an Antonio Stradivari “Conte de Fontana-former D.Oistrach” violin of the year 1702, which is entrusted to him by the “Pro Canale” Foundation in Milan. “We tried to select as varied a program as possible, covering the classical period, with Mozart’s KV 379 Sonata, Franck’s Sonata, Tchaikovsky Melancholic Serenade and up to Franco-Hungarian folklore with Raveli’s “The Gypsy”. “Certainly we had to include the works of such a beloved composer as Paganini, because as an Italian I feel I have a duty to interpret from his work,” Quarta said in an interview to the daily “Shekulli.”
