Albanian paintings selected from the Collection of the National Arts Gallery arrived in Beijing on Tuesday. At 10:00 hours local time in Beijing, the exhibition, “Vision and Expression” opened at the National Arts Museum of China and it will remain open from 13-29 June 2007. This exhibition is a selection of several of the finest portraits, the majority of which are from the National Arts Gallery in Tirana. The works have been selected in a chronological manner beginning with the “Icon of Saint Spiridon” which is the oldest work of the National Arts Gallery as well as a selection of the finest contemporary artists. There is a selection of works by some of the most famous of Albanian artists such as Kol Idromeno, Zef Kolombi, representatives of the sixties and seventies like Sali Shijaku and Guri Madhi etc. These artists exerted a major influence on Albanian painting. An important part of the Collection are the works of the contemporary artists like Gazmend Leka, Najada Hamza etc, which bring a great deal of variety to the exhibition.
