The following is a historical look at Albanian elections and an analysis of the parties in the current race, their programs, ambitions and coalitions, as well as some background information about the political and economic context in which these elections take place. Albania has a short and poor history of operating under a multiparty political system, one that provides several alternative parties and candidates on which voters then decide through elections.
