Albanian composer receives prize

TIRANA, Oct. 19 – Albanian composer Thoma Simaku won the Honored Prize at the international competition Music Personalities 2006 organized from the Polish association Alexander Tansman. The prize was won for Simaku’s musical piece “arc-en’ciel” chosen from a jury of 401 composers from 51 countries around the world. Simaku has won two other prizes from the same association in the last two years: Serocki prize in 2004 and Lutoslawski prize in 2005, who are named after two well-known Polish composers of the 20th century. Simaku lives in Leeds, England.
