Berisha assures Sollaku on next investigation

TIRANA, Oct. 24 – Prime Minister Sali Berisha said Tuesday that the law on the independent investigation of Prosecutor-General Theodhori Sollaku will be soon in the parliament. Speaking to the Democratic Party MPs Berisha ‘assured’ Sollaku the draft law would soon be ready and also that it will be an honest and independent investigation. The idea of an independent investigation of Sollaku’s work came last week after President Alfred Moisiu declined to fire the prosecutor as the majority Democrats had asked for, following their vote of an investigative report in July accusing him of abuse of post and costing the government up to $20 million for unfairly held cases.
