TIRANA, Jan. 27- The road segment Kalimash-Morine has become the site of renewed legal controversy regarding the Durres-Kukes road. The segment has been allocated through a tender to five different companies to work on five separate segments. Initially, the companies had signed contracts to build a tow lane road but recently these same companies have been ordered to build, instead, four lane roads. The requests, however, had not been accompanied by extra funding. Hence, the companies have sued the General Directory of Roads a well as the ministry of transportation. The companies include Gjoka, Arifaj+ Kastrati, Geci, ANK, Granit and Vict.Inv.Inter. This is the second segment of the patriotic road that is marred by corruption claims. The other segment, Rreshen -Kalimash. has already become the subject of an investigation by the General Attorney.
