Diana Culi receives Italian Presidential Order of Merit

TIRANA, Oct. 24 – Albania writer Diana Culi has been awarded the “Ufficiale” OMRI order of merit by the Italian President for her culture and social contribution. The Order was handed out by Italian Ambassador to Albania Massimo Gaiani on behalf of President Giorgio Napolitano in a ceremony held on Oct. 24 in Durres. A journalist, translator, human rights activist and politician, Diana Culi managed to accurately confess the country’s history and changes. “Thanks to her love and deep knowledge of Italian language and culture, Diana Culi has set the events of some her novels between Italy and Albania and has published in Italian the novels “Scrivere sull’acqua” and “Angeli armati,” says the Italian embassy in a statement. She is also known for her promoting women’s rights in Albania and the region.
“I was awarded the Order for my contribution to culture and social activities and because of the fact I have worked with Italian partnerships and translated many Italian authors, promoted the publication of many Italian writers and helped with cultural and social exchanges with the association I run.” says Culi.
