VLORA, Oct. 23 – The number of cases for planting and trafficking drugs has been significantly reduced in the Vlora district, according to the court’s officials. Albert Pashaj said this year there have been 43 cases compared to 124 in 2005. The official said that has obviously come from the intensified work of the specialized police forces in preventing the crime. Last year some 300,000 cannabis sativa plants were cut down in Vlora and 500 persons were sentenced. This year there have been only 130 cases.
Police arrested Petrit Imeraj, 42, suspected of being a drug trafficker in Tirana and he is also accused of trying to organize a criminal organization in order to get involved in international drug trafficking, police reported.
