Foreign poetry for the third time in Albania

Different poets from abroad will come for the third time in Albania at the festival of poetry, titled “The Poetic”. This is the third edition of this competition and it will start by the end of April. It is realized with the participation of poets from 21 countries, including Kosovo. The poetries will be read in 17 different languages. The director of the festival, Arian Leka said that “these are 17 opportunities for Albanian poets to be known in other countries and other languages as well”.
There will be four prizes that the participants will be nominated for. That includes; traditional prize “Poeteka”, “Liburni”, “Nositi” and the prize for the “Poetic Interpretation”. The festival will also give a chance to other genres of poetry to be part of the contest, such as etudes (inspired by the poetries). The realizations will be part of a different session called “How the others see us”.
For the director of the festival this is a challenge for Albanian musicians, that gives them lyrics for their songs. Apart from the roundtable that will be held during the festival, there will be also a memorial for the poet Paul Selani. The American professor Hart Wegner will give a lecture about the poet. His famous poetry “The escape from the death” will be read by the participants in 16 different languages. (Tirana Times Staff)
