Government reaches a funding agreement on how to fight TB, AIDS

TIRANA, Oct. 18 – Wednesday the government passed an agreement with the Global Fund Against AIDS on their methods and their funding to fight the disease in our country. The Health Ministry had signed a $776,298 deal with the Global Fund for the Fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria for the program of intensifying the national response to tuberculosis. It also passed another agreement of $2.5 million with the same institution on helping unprotected groups with HIV/AIDS. Albania has on average some 700 persons with tuberculosis each year and it also had 179 persons with HIV infected in 2005, according to the Institute of Public Health.
