TIRANA, Oct. 9 – Thousands of students began the new school year in public and private universities this Monday. While the registration process is yet to end in the public universities, there were a series of new private universities that somewhat confused young students where to go. There was also a new public university, that of Aleksander Moisiu in Durres where Prime Minister Sali Berisha went together with Minister of Education Genc Pollo and other senior officials. The premier said that the government was determined to double the state budget for education at the end of its four-year mandate. It will be more than four percent of the GDP, according to Berisha.
