Pianist Gjoni recieves special award in New York

TIRANA, Oct. 19 – Albanian pianist Hermira Gjoni, spouse of composer Simon Gjoni, received a special reward for her music activity from the Federazione Campania _USA foundation in New York the medal was also received from the Italian-American singer Christopher Machio and Miss America 2005 Christina Zozaro. The two artists got the medal some days ago after a concert they gave at City Island in front of more than 400 spectators. “It was a surprise and a great pleasure for me to get this medal,” said Gjoni. She had gone to the States ten years ago trying to identify herself as an artist. “It was difficult because there are so many artists here as many high buildings are here,” she said. Gjoni is a piano lecturer at the Guggenheim Building conservatory in New York. She has often played as a pianist in many countries worldwide in the U.S. and Europe.
