Female grace in black and white for the 12 months of the year. At a special ceremony last week in Shkodra the “Marubi Calendar for 2007” was promoted.
Contrary to the two previous calendars, this one has special features. Its focus is very elegant and select. There are photographs of 12 women, the most striking chosen from the National Fund of Marubi photographs. It is n ot easy to select the photos from the pearls realized by the Marubi-s. “I think we wanted to provide the public with something special and we did. These women were photographed between 1860 and 1938. Their beauty has resisted the times,” said the Directress of the Photographic Funds, Semiha Osmani to the daily newspaper Shekulli,. Apart from their physical beauty, these Albanian women demonstrate the beauty of the traditional folk costumes too. These photographs include women dressed in the traditional folk costumes that were worn by women belonging to the three different religions of the region, Moslem, Catholic and Orthodox. There are also women wearing other folk costumes from other regions of the country, Malesia e Madhe, Zadrime etc. The realization of an album of 107 photographs selected from these Marubi funds is another project. This project enjoys the patronage of the Spacer of the Assembly, Jozefina Topalli.
“In this album, I want to present Shkodra as a Grand Lady, as she has been and should be,” Osmani said.
The realization of this calendar has been sponsored by GTZ.
