TIRANA, Oct. 9 – Tirana streets have been very difficult to pass and not only for cars and other vehicles but also for pedestrians. There are 11 places where there is being held work for their rehabilitation. But that has totally blocked the traffic and made driving a real headache. Moreover work stops in early afternoon lengthening the time of the end of these projects. City hall run from the Socialists said that road police should help ease the traffic. Mayor Edi Rama has continuously asked pardon to citizens for the headache. But they should probably think more and ask the companies that work to continue their job all day and why not during the night. On the other side, the Interior Ministry comes out with a news release saying that the Tirana municipality is to be blamed. They said that road rehabilitation had to be made gradually and not on the eve of local elections. Then they list the long list of streets being rehabilitated.
On the other side, road police is found in a very difficult position. Road policemen are seen in every corner and despite their efforts long convoys of cars trying to cross from one street to the other are see all day long.
