Draftlaw on family violence passed in parliamentary commission

TIRANA, Oct. 2 – The Albanian parliamentary commission debated and passed a draft law on family violence, an initiative of the Citizens Advocacy Office (CAO. It mainly aims at protecting women and children from violence of men in the family. The CAO held a petition and after thousands of signatures it presented the draft to the parliament.
The draft law aims at preventing or reducing family violence. It offers legal support to the victims. The court is obliged to start within 24 hours after the request a case on family violence.
