TIRANA, March 8 – Funds used by Albania’s Democratic Party to lobby for support in the United States have become a source of debate after an American magazine article noted it appears there are links to Russia, drawing a strong denial by the Albanian party and the Russian embassy in Tirana.   Albania’s main opposition party, DP, says the article is part of a smear campaign backed by supporters of Albania’s ruling Socialist Party, which the opposition accuses of having ties to drug cultivation and trafficking and criminalising Albanian society.
