TIRANA, Oct. 28 – Çalık Holding is seeking business opportunities in the Albanian energy sector following investments in the country’s banking and telecommunication sectors, Turkey’s Today’s Zaman reported.
During a meeting in Tirana on Wednesday, Ahmet Çalık, chairman of Çalık Holding, mentioned they have strategic investments in Albania with a value of approximately $500 million and are seeking opportunities to invest in the energy sector. “We have full confidence in the future of this developing country. We, as the Çalık Group, attach high importance to investments in the banking and telecommunication sectors. Moreover, I am announcing that we will expand our investments in the energy sector in Albania,” said Çalık
Çalık Holding introduced an electronic banking system in their bank in Albania, Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT). Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who was also one of the attendees at the meeting referred to Ahmet Çalık as “Albania’s friend” and pointed to BKT’s improvement in 10 years. “I didn’t know that a company in Albania could grow 10 times in 10 years’ time,” said Berisha. He noted that the electronic banking system is a milestone for BKT and Albania.
