TIRANA, May 29 – Albania’s main opposition Democratic Party has submitted a full list of candidates for the June 25 elections following several delays due to an incomplete list submitted earlier and several withdrawals from candidates.

The Central Elections Commission had to push its deadline twice to accommodate the country’s largest opposition party, which entered the campaign only after the Socialist-led coalition government agreed to give it several caretaker ministerial chairs to guarantee state resources would not be used in the elections to help the ruling Socialist Party.

The first list had little more than 90 names of 140 candidates that each party is required to submit.

The final list contained the required number as well as changes in the ranking of candidates in some districts.
