TIRANA, Oct. 31 – The Albanian armed forces have purchased two new helicopters that will be primarily used for search-and-rescue operations.

The two new EC-145 helicopters were presented at the Farka Air-force Base together with four Lince armored personal carriers to be used by military police.

The Albanian army is in the process of modernization despite a limited budget.

Albania is a NATO member since 2009.

The country has pledged to have a company ready to be located within hours everywhere NATO would want it.

The last two helicopters are part of a package of six helicopters the government has purchased from France.
