TIRANA, April 22 – Four Albanian movies and documentaries are participating in this year’s sixth edition of the Prishtina international film festival, the Prifest. Albania is participating in the annual competition with a documentary and a middle-length movie as well as two out-of-competition movie screenings.
“Hidden Documentary” a UK-Albania co-production directed by Fabian Kati is competing in the documentary programme. “A forty-year long lost documentary shot during the communist era, is discussed in-depth with its director, cinematographer and some of its background actors. It is a way to reflect about the past, but not only, looking closely into apparently small and insignificant events.” “Finally home,” a film directed by Kreshnik Saraci will be running in the middle length competition.
Albania is also represented in the festival with Ada, a recent movie by Spartak Pecani and newly restored communist era movie Tomka and his friends” which are scheduled to screen out-of-competition.
With five world premieres, five international premieres and over fifty premieres to Kosovo, this year’s PriFest, scheduled from April 25 to May 2, promises a great joy for film lovers, organizers say. PriFest will bring to its audience around 60 films, more than any previous editions, divided in seven different programs.
The five international premieres come from United States of America, Germany and Albania.
“PriFest seeks to bring the best of world cinema to Prishtina and Kosovo, and to promote the best of Kosovar film to the international audience. PriFest aims to develop local and international talent, by enhancing growth of the industry in the country,” says Vjosa Berisha, the director of PriFest.
