Spain remain top of FIFA world rankings

ZURICH, Jan 14, 2009 — European champions Spain remained top of the latest world rankings published by FIFA on Wednesday following a quiet month for international soccer.
With few teams in action, the top 14 stayed unchanged as Spain stretched their spell at the top into a seventh month with Germany and Netherlands their nearest challengers.
Albania moved up 3 places, ranked 78th, despite gaining no points in December 2008.
