TIRANA, March 27 – As of Monday, the Albanian government will enable repatriation flights for all Albanian citizens who are unable to return home due to the COVID-19 measures imposed by several countries. The Ministry of Foreign affairs announced on Friday that efforts are being made in cooperation with Albanian Embassies abroad to repatriate all Albanian nationals who want to return home.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority, the flights will be operated by national flag carrier airline ‘Air Albania’ and will be free of charge. Citizens can make the request by applying to www.shqiperiaqeduam.com or by contacting the closest Consulates or Embassies to them.

However, the CAA also urged citizens not to book any flights to Europe during the upcoming weeks as the travel ban is still in place and all flights except to Instabul, have been suspended until further notice.

Today marks the 15th day that Albania is under national lockdown. Last week the Albanian government suspended all flights to/from Rinas, excluding Istanbul as well as repatriation, humanitarian and cargo flights.
