TIRANA, Jan 26 – Prime Minister Sali Berisha said Monday that holding free and fair elections based upon international democratic standards was fundamental for his executive’s policy in the months prior to parliamentary elections on June 28.
The premier said the government was committed to a continuing process of reforms to meet the required standards of the western democracies.
“I would like to guarantee representatives of the community of free countries, the US, NATO and EU member countries, that this government will do its utmost so Albanians vote with dignity as citizens of this community in full respect of the country’s laws and constitution and as part of a zero-tolerance war against crime and corruption,” said Berisha.
