In its 12 years in print, this newspaper has supported without any hesitation every effort and action that ensures that Albanian elections are free, fair and democratic. The ongoing protest Albania’s opposition is holding is such an effort, Tirana Times believes, and this newspaper supports its aim for a caretaker government to run the elections.   • Albania's constitution has been amended in the past to expand the power of political leaders. It can now be amended to ensure ensure the voting process is free from the criminal underworld and the misuse of state resources. Supporting the creation of a caretaker government staffed by technocrats to run the elections might seem at first glance like support for the opposition alone. That is not the case. A caretaker government is in the interest of Albanian democracy and a democratic future, of the stability and security of the country.
