TIRANA, April 10 – The first prisoners enjoying a recent wide amnesty approved by parliament were released Thursday from their places of detention.
The amnesty launched from the government and approved by the parliament will release some 900 prisoners or detained persons sentenced up to three years or having that time remained, but not those in serious crimes.
That also includes those detainees whose crimes they are accused of are sentenced no more than three years.
The amnesty also involves all women over 50 years old or men over 60 years old.
The amnesty will serve authorities to open spaces to the prisons that have been overloaded, thus creating a serious problem on the new arrests.
