TIRANA, Oct 29 – Three judges were fired accused of abusing with their post.
What made that more intriguing was the fact that they had also covered the appeals court trial of businessman Mihal Delijorgji who was formerly asked to pay a $1.2 million fine for fiscal evasion.
The verdict of the three judges cleared him of the sentence.
Delijorgji is also the owner of the AlbDemil company that was in charge of disposing ammu8nition in the factory of Gerdec. An explosion there March 15 killed 26 people and injured 300 others.
Delijorgji, his manager and a former senior defense ministry official are under arrest accused of mass murder.
The High Council of Justice is considering a number of bad work cases from different judges. Last week it also fired two other judges from a total of 12 they have said are to be discussed.
