TIRANA, Feb. 15 – In a visit to Tirana on Tuesday, EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos signed a major agreement with Albanian authorities effectively handing over much of the control of Albania’s border management to the EU border agency, Frontex, in cases defined in the memorandum of understanding. “This agreement will allow for the future deployment in Albania of EU border and coast guard teams,” Avramopoulos said after the signing.
