Father, son imprisoned for human traffic

TIRANA, July 14 – A father and his son were sentenced to 31 years imprisoned and also fined with 13 million leks for trafficking women for prostitution.
Astrit and Nelgert Pata were sentenced by the Appeals Court of Grave Crimes after found to have trafficked for prostitution a woman identified only as Brunilda.
The two men were arrested in 2006 after Norway had sent an arrest warrant following a sue from a woman. The woman said she was first offered to get married and then taken to Norway she was forced to serve as a prostitute.
They were also sentenced for trafficking another person.
In another operation in southern Fier police arrested a 31 year old man, Shpetim Muharremi, for forcing his wife to prostitution. The arrest was made after the woman complained to police.
While in central Elbasan police continued an operation codenamed Turisti with the arrest of four persons who had a hotel in Xibrake village where they offered prostitutes.
