A new business guide classifying businesses according to performance and success will soon be released, report the Albanian media (TV Klan, 2.11.2009). This new initiative was presented in a gala dinner held in the city of Durr쳠with the participation of many personalities and successful businesses. Though a number of business directories exist in the Albanian guide-and-directories market, a yearly publication that records performance and success of Albanian companies through the year is yet absent, or else has not managed to become a reference among customers. The new guide entitled “The 111 best things in Albania” (111 gj쳡t m롴롭ira n롓hqip쳩) will be released some time at the beginning of the following year (2010). A trophy-awarding ceremony will be organized on the 111th day of the year and a crystal cube will be the distinguishing trophy. The guide will list the names of the enterprises and the services they offer, selected according to position held by public opinion. A number of citizens will be polled for this purpose. The companies selected for the first edition of the guide were present at the gala held in the coastal city of Durr쳬 a few kilometers from Tirana, the capital of the country.
Evis Mumajesi, the administrator of the publishing company, has shown himself optimistic concerning the project and hopes that each year the guide will be in itself part of the successes in the country. Earlier reports in the press (Shekulli, 20.05.2009) speak of a larger guide that would not only include businesses but also most beautiful, most attractive, most interesting and must-see places, media, artists, sportsmen, drinks, films, books, etc. in Albania. According to this early report, 111 categories had been selected and 4 potential candidates for each category. One of the four would win in each category and would complete the choice of the The 111 best things in Albania.
