TIRANA, July 24 – Police said they had arrested three persons being held as suspects for the massacre of six policemen and injuring nine members of the National Guard in 1997 in the central small town of Cerrik, some 60 kilometers south of capital Tirana, according to top policeman Ahmet Prenci.
The operation, codenamed Autoblinda, resulted in the arrest of Llazar Bicia, 45, Roland Xhepaxhiu, 39, and Met Bozi, 49, for the May 23, 1997 massacre.
Prenci said others involved, accused of collaborating in murder, were previously arrested for other crimes.
Two Albanians extradited from Greece
TIRANA, July 24 – Two Albanians wanted for murder, Dode Cara and Isuf Leka, were extradited Tuesday from Athens, police reported.
Cara was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Puka court in 1996 after a 1992 murder which left Kukes Ndue Kolcara dead. Another person had assisted him.
Leka was wanted by the Dibra court which sentenced him in 1998 to 17 years imprisonment for the revenge killing a year earlier of Qamil Meziu.
