Event deals with the ongoing debate on EU enlargement with the participation of journalists and editors from mainstream media.

TIRANA TIMES – TIRANA, April 5

EU’s public opinion on the union’s enlargement has now been further shaped by the financial crisis, in addition to an internal identity crisis, two experts told a seminar organized by the Albanian Media Institute this week.
The changing nature of the EU, the identity crisis and financial crisis that lead to public opinion insecurity, the situation after the Lisbon Treaty, and the difficulties of the Western Balkans countries in state formation were the main aspects discussed by the lecturers.
The event dealt with the ongoing debate on EU enlargement with the participation of journalists and editors from mainstream media.
The debate aimed to inform participants on the main topics and positions in EU public opinion in relation to EU enlargement.
Odeta Barbullushi of European University of Tirana and Gledis Gjipali of European Movement of Albania spoke about enlargement and the finality of this process, focusing on some main topics, analyzing the different trends and reactions in each case.
The role of Europe as a gravitation center, as a normative force, and as a transforming force, were also analyzed and discussed with the participants.
The specifics of each Balkan state and their perspective and stance regarding EU integration were also tackled during the seminar.
