Albania army major in Georgia shows how they were attacked

TIRANA, Aug 17 – Major Ahmet Hoxha is part of international peacekeepers in the Georgian town of Zukditi, that became one of the places where there was war between the Russian and Georgian armies earlier this month.
The major said that scores of missiles left from Russian planes and the army had exploded near their base. All logistic and strategic centers were destroyed and the city was also destroyed.
The only ones left in the city were the U.N. peacekeepers, he said.
The major said they were confronted with no threat until the moment of the fight.
He said that the attack from the Russian army caught them by surprise.
Maj. Hoxha, of origin from the Tepelena district in southern Albania, said together with his two other Albanian colleagues they are well and not so near the war line.
He had managed to talk on phone with his family in Tirana, according to his interview to the Panorama newspaper.
Together with Maj. Halil Myrtezai they are working in Georgia while Maj. Ndricim Collaku in Abkhazia, a Georgian region also wanting to get independent.
