TIRANA, July 7 – The distribution branch of Albania’s Power Corporation, OSSH, last week announced it would write down 63 million Euros of debt interest owed by consumers, while it should also collect the principal debt valued at 252 million Euros.
The company’s debt creates a problem for its privatization bid, scheduled for later this year. The distribution branch of Albania’s power utility, KESH, and a few other public companies, are intended to be privatized this year. Over the past years, Albania has been hit by an acute energy crisis, with regular power cuts throughout the country, including in Tirana. (Tirana Times Staff)
