TIRANA, Nov. 3 – Italian police in Milan arrested Ramjus Canaj, 29, wanted by Albanian authorities for an attempted murder a year ago. Canaj is expected to be extradited to Albania soon.
While in Brussels another Albanian, Sajmir Elmazi, 36, was arrested following a request by Interpol Tirana. Elmazi had been sentenced to eight years imprisonment for murdering Perparim Deliu in 1997. He has since been deported to Albania.
Other Albanians, Vullnet Kanani, 22, Gezim Hazizi, 30, Shkelzen Skollaj, 32 and Bledar Pema, 23, were extradited from Athens to serve their prison sentences in Albania.
Kanani was sentenced to four years imprisonment for attempted murder in 2004. Hazizi was sentenced to ten years imprisonment for armed robbery. Skollaj was sentenced to two years imprisonment for exploitation of prostitution. Also, Pema was sentenced to five years imprisonment earlier this year for involvement in prostitution.
