TIRANA, Nov 12ؔhe deposit portfolio of commercial banks operating in Albania stood at some 637.144 billion ALL (4.64 billion euro) at the end of August, 2.9% lower than a year earlier, central bank data indicated. The banks’ deposit portfolio in August was 4.1% higher than a month earlier.

The loan portfolio of commercial banks in Albania amounted to some 423.3 billion ALL (3.08 billion euro) at the end of August, 15.9% up from a year earlier, central bank statistics indicated.
On a monthly basis the banks’ August credit portfolio was 1.0% higher.
At the end of 2008 the banks’ credit portfolio totalled 396.3 billion ALL, 35% up on the year.

Albania’s 16 commercial banks serve a market of some 3.2 million people.
Albania’s M3 broad money supply totalled 845.036 billion ALL (6.15 billion euro) at the end of August, up by 4.5% on the year, central bank statistics indicated.
On a monthly basis M3 money supply was 2.9% higher at the end of August.
