TIRANA, Sept. 17 – Religion, increasing concrete buildings, sin and waste are the central topics of an exhibition Albanian born US based Andis Gjoni has opened at the Zeta gallery in Tirana. The “Permanent transition” exhibition tries to awaken the public and make it reflect on the prolonged transition the Albanian society is undergoing through installations.
“I was based on the Albania reality. We are going through a prolonged transition. The idea of transition is passing from point A to B which seems to be going further and we cannot overcome this initial stage of the society getting used to another system and switch into a normal development stage. This is my concern and with this exhibition I try to provoke the public so that it reacts by reflecting,” Gjoni tells reporters.
“Politics is the gist of all this ongoing transition which I try to criticize through art,” adds Gjoni.
