TIRANA, Dec 17 – US Ambassador to Tirana John L. Withers II said Wednesday that all persons in the country, including top officials, should be treated equally by the law.
The ambassador, taking part at the medal awarding ceremony for his legal adviser by the Albanian president, said that “the rule of law meant all are equal in front of the law, all should be listened to and be judged fairly. Neither the power, the post, or the social status or property should influence in the equality of the legal system.”
Albania has all the required laws like a democratic country but justice has been its main shortcoming during its post-communist period, often strongly influenced from politics.
