TIRANA, June 18 – The Albanian government says it will soon award a concession contract to build a new cruise ship port in Durres. In a decision taken on June 14, the Albanian government approved a BOT concession for a new cruise ship port near the “Ura e Dajlanit” beach area at the entry of Durres city and next to the country’s biggest port. The Albanian government also approved an 8 percent bonus to Adriatic Yachting Marina for its unsolicited offer. The government has charged the Public Works Ministry as the contracting authority.
Cruise ships in Durres are currently handled in Durres Port, the country’s biggest. More than 1,000 foreign tourists travelling on cruise ships have visited Albania in the past two months, Durres port authorities say.
