TIRANA, Oct. 29 – The Interior Ministry has issued an official guidance for businesses, schools, residential areas and buses, urging those responsible to install cameras to increase security in the area and help authorities better investigate crimes.

Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri said such an effort would increase security for all and also help authorities.

Speaking to reporters Tuesday, he added clubs and other businesses operating late at night should be of particular focus.

Tahiri said these efforts do not threaten the privacy of people, but increase security for all.

He added cameras would help “police or institutions in general to take measures to guarantee law and order.”

The minister said that people can do more to help police and courts get criminals to jail.

Tahiri added Albania is behind other countries in this area.

“Don’t fear the cameras or the security elements. They are there and will be there to defend our communities, our families and our children,” said the minister.
