TIRANA, August 8 – Kosovo talented painter Rron Qena will feature in a personal exhibition in Tirana works specially created during his three-month stay in Albania and the best of his collection. The exhibition named “Rron Qena in Albania” will open on Sunday, August 10 at the Tirana Express alternative art space in Tirana, located at the former storage warehouses of the Tirana Railway station.
Rron Qena, 34, lives in Prishtina where he also educated.
When things started moving again in the post-war Prishtina, Rron went back to the Academy of Arts and was disappointed with what he found. “Everything was corrupt, including the teachers and the students. There was no more value to this institution, and definitely, nothing to gain by staying there. He left the academy and chose self-development.”
A substantial part of Rron’s paintings are dominated by figures of nude women and portraits of women, including fine details and cheerful colors. For Rron, love and women are big sources of inspiration. He falls and re-falls in love, to break up and feel despair and explode in expressions. “When a woman leaves me, she is doing me a favor. I explode, and I live a period of intensive painting,” he says.
