TIRANA, Jan. 15 – The Italian group Italcementi, the fifth largest cement contractor with projects in 22 countries, met to brief the Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha on its development programs and activities in the region.

The group also mentioned a project worth 25 million Euros, which envisages the creation of a factory for the production of cement close to Durres.

The group said it would have “significant positive effects on the economy and local community thanks to the production of about 450,000 tons of cement per year destined for consumption in the country.”

It will employ at least fifty local employees.

Berisha expressed his support for the initiative of Italcementi, which has been present in Albania since 1998 through Eurotech Cement company.
