VLORE, Nov. 7 – Authorities in southwest Albania have seized 45 hectares of land at a private beach, saying it was illegally owned and part of a criminal investigation. A court order has seized the area pending a full audit of its documentation.
Prosecutors said that the land was leased for 100 years as a forested area, though it was alongside the Llamani beach in Vlora district, 150 kilometers south of Tirana.
Authorities are also checking the documentation related to a court registration for the land earlier this year.
Beaches in Albania are typically considered public land.
