TIRANA, March 13 – Producer prices continued their rising trend even in the final quarter of 2011, rising 0.7 percent compared to the third quarter of 2011 and 2.1 percent year-on-year. INSTAT data show the Producer Price Index (PPI), measuring price changes from the makers of a product, rose by 2.1 percent y-o-y for the extractive industry and 3.3 percent for the processing industry. PPI in the extraction of crude oil, natural rose by 4.9 percent y-o-y. Meanwhile, the PPI for domestic products registered a 0.9 percent increase compared to the third quarter of 2011 with producer prices in the processing industry rising by 1.8. The export price index also rose by 0.1 percent compared to the previous quarter with prices in the processing industry which accounts for the majority of Albanian exports up by 0.4 percent.
