TIRANA, Sept. 14 – Prime Minister Edi Rama made a visit to the southern German state of Bavaria this week, meeting with the local head of government, Horst Seehofer, and attending other events, including the opening of his own art exhibition.
Rama discussed ties between Albania and Germany, EU integration and especially focused on professional education, considered a very important tool for the preparation of the generations to come.
Seehofer pledged to Rama his assistance in offering to Albania “a prospect toward Europe and the European Union” soon.
Rama’s visit comes at a critical time for Germany with the influx of hundreds of thousands of refugees from war-torn countries.
But Germany is also hosting more than 30,000 Albanians who have gone there this year and asked for asylum.
Berlin has made it clear now they cannot offer asylum to them and has called on Albanians to stop the effort. It has also started to deport hundreds on weekly flights.
German officials have told Albanians they should refer to the legal ways of asking for a job in Germany, not applying for asylum.
Rama also attended the opening of a personal painting exhibition during his visit to Bavaria. A painter by profession, Rama has continued to post his abstract works during his political career.
